What are some fo the pros and contras in the narco debate?
First of all, we have heard that there is this thing called medical use for Marijuana, and thus a gradual lessneing of the crime behind possesing marijauna has decreased, notably in the US . Also, Canada, which is part of North America, also has legalized now atleast in some areas the growth of two plants. So, here in Mexico, one asks, if we are part of North America on trade and on geographical land, why are we not legalizing it more? Defintely, some of the politicians are for it. But Mexico must confront 1) it's Inquisitional Catholic past, and 2) the connection, comraderie, unified interest of well being with North America as a whole.
Ron Paul gave a speech in the US saying that just because heroin is made legal doesn'[t really mean you will go out and use heroin. He speaks very much to the concept of personal responsibilty for one's actions and not blaming the legality of something for using it. So, obviously the discussion about drugs, their history in the human race and its quest, has to be had. Once we talk more about the huge issue that is human drug consumption, instead of keep hiding it under the table and acting like only weirdos use them, then we can avoid much violence related to drugs. Ironically people against legalization think all kinds of violence will break out. I wonder, what do they think about all the violence that breaks out due to organized crime since it it illegal ??? It's weird to defend themselves by saying there would be violence from drugs becoming legal , in light of all the violence coming out of it being illegal! So yes, when will we have an actual , intelligent, not based on old ways, talk?
